The Treasure Wythe Inn (TWI) had its beginnings in the heart of Co-Pastor Elena Robertson who desired to provide a hand up rather than a hand out for those who are facing life's challenges. The vision of the Treasure Wythe Inn is to serve as an avenue through which women and their children can discover the depth of the Word of God and clarity of their identity in Christ through the transitional home, the future domestic violence shelter, and group home.
The first TWI home was acquired in the fall of 2007 and the entire Mt. Gilead Full Gospel International Ministries family generously supported the vision through donations as well as giving their tithes and offerings. The foundational scripture of The Treasure Wythe Inn speaks to the value that is found in everyone; “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.” II Corinthians 4:7. Equipped with a Board of Directors and Operational Team, the leadership began to implement the vision to establish a 24 hour safe haven for women and their children. The mission is to restore relationships through Biblical principles and programs. The road to recovery and restoration begins by serving the immediate physical, spiritual, and psychological needs of the residents. The services and programs of TWI are designed to assist both women and children in developing skills necessary to establish independent living. Following the completion of a needs assessment, a determination is made concerning the additional needs of residents including addressing the areas of spiritual development, substance abuse, victim advocacy, domestic violence counseling, anger management, and problem-solving. Residents also receive assistance in developing strong life skills, effective communication, employment training, educational advancement, and financial management. The residents of TWI are expected to maintain their residency for 6 to 18 months depending on the extent of their needs. As the vision continues to unfold, the Board of Directors and Operational team remain committed to supporting the visionary, CoPastor Elena Robertson and giving God praise for unlocking the hidden treasure in those they serve. In July 15, 2008, the Treasure Wythe Inn received its first family with a team of mentors and coaches in place to provide a myriad of services. On August 1, 2009, the family completed their period of transition with great success. They were blessed to transition into their own residence and utilized their newly acquired skills to make that transition a dream come true. The second TWI family moved into the home on October 3, 2009 and one year later they were transitioned from the home. In October 2010, the second resident and her children successfully obtained housing and transitioned back into the community. With the skills, guidance, and direction vital toward making positive strides in their lives, the second TWI family is now positioned for success. Treasure Wythe Inn II In April 2010, Treasure Wythe Inn II was acquired and after an amazing renovation, Bishop Daniel Robertson, Jr. dedicated the home on May 30, 2011. The vision of Co-Pastor Elena Robertson expanded to include fathers and their children. As a result of that expansion, Treasure Wythe Inn II housed its first male resident and child in June 2010. A team of male mentors was established to assist the male resident in the transition process. Services included; assisting the family with developing independent living and life skills along with effective communication skills, parenting training, and cultivating a stronger prayer life. After 13 months, the first family of The Treasure Wythe Inn II transitioned out of the home and reintegrated back into the community in July of 2011. In November 2011, the second resident of Treasure Wythe Inn II transitioned into the home with her family under the guidance and direction of mentors and coaches from TWI Board and Operations Team. The family is currently receiving the services provided by the TWI team and is expected to continue the trend of successful transition back into the community. |
